2.5. Activity: International trade agreements

Activity: International trade agreements

Part 1 of the Module has introduced you to some important international agreements and this activity is intended to help you learn a little more about them through your own research. The table below contains the short names of the 5 agreements we have referenced so far – the RKC, the TFA, the Istanbul Convention, the HS Convention and the Valuation Agreement – together with another important agreement, known as TRIPS. (TRIPS deals with Intellectual property and contains several enforcement provisions relating to the rights and powers of Customs to seize goods in breach of an Intellectual Property Holder’s rights.) Beside each agreement is a series of columns with self-explanatory headings. Your task is to fill in the gaps in the table. We have filled in the gaps beside the RKC for you as a guide. The data for each agreement will be found on either the WCO website or the WTO website at the locations we have already referred to in the Study Guide. When you have completed the table to your satisfaction, please load your answer onto the Moodle site so that it can be assessed as part of your overall assessment for the Module.
