Study Guide
Introduction
This module introduces participants to international trade processes — specifically, what is involved in a typical international commercial transaction, and the key commercial documents used in that process.
International trade has two main dimensions: a commercial side and a regulatory or government side. The regulatory side — including Customs administration of bilateral, regional, and multilateral agreements — is covered in later modules. This module focuses on the commercial aspects and their underlying legal framework, covering the following topics:
• What is an International Trade Transaction?
• Incoterms®
• The Contract of Sale
• International Carriage of Goods
This module introduces financing and insurance but does not cover them in detail, focusing instead on the overall transaction process and the international movement of goods.
